Marriage Application
You can legally get married in Cyprus but you must make your marriage application in person
to the Marriage Officer at the municipality of your choice upon your arrival in Cyprus.

Residency Requirements
You must be resident in Cyprus for 4-5 clear working days prior to your wedding day.
Note: The 4-5 days is only applicable if you apply to the Marriage Officer for the issue
of a Special Licence. If you do not apply for the special licence, your marriage cannot be celebrated
until 15 clear days after you submit your Notice of Marriage and you will need to be resident in Cyprus
for approximately 20 days.



Required Documentation


All documents must be original and taken with you to Cyprus.
  • Full birth certificate.
  • Ten-year passport.
  • Photocopies of the picture page of witness passports (church ceremonies).
  • Sworn affidavits – a statutory declaration signed and stamped by a solicitor confirming both parties
    are free to marry. This must be prepared one month before your wedding date. For those in Scotland
    a certificate of no impediment is required.
  • Notice of Marriage – this must be submitted to a Marriage Officer prior to your wedding,
    supplied by us.
  • If you are getting married in a church – baptism certificates are required. Also a letter
    from your local minister may be asked for. (Please contact the wedding manager for further details)
  • If you are divorced- a Decree Absolute. Couples must have been divorced for
    at least 90 days prior to a wedding in Cyprus.
  • If you are a widower – a death certificate and previous marriage certificate.
  • If you are adopted – an adoption certificate.
  • If you are under 18 – a letter of consent from his/her father. If deceased then the mother.
    If both parents are deceased then a legal guardian.
  • If you have changed your name by deed poll – stamped proof by a solicitor.
  • If you have an Irish passport or are residing in Ireland – a Freedom to Marry Certificate
    (obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Dublin 00353 14082568 or from an Irish Embassy
    if living outside Ireland).

If you are from a country other than the United Kingdom, it may be necessary for you to have
your papers stamped by various ministries in your own country. Each country has different regulations
and different departments dealing with these matters.It is the client's responsibility to bring all original documentation. Photocopies are not accepted.
