Urban Taxis (Information as of 30th January 2012)

This is a 24-hour service provided in all towns. Taxis can be booked by phone or hired on the street. Urban taxis are provided with taximeters and charging commences upon the entrance of a passenger in the taxi. The transport of passengers by urban taxis without using the taximeter is not permitted. Fares are based on the following chart:

a) Initial charge

b) Fare per km

c) Delay or waiting time per hour

d) For every luggage weighing more than 12 kg

e) During the following public holidays, taxis charge an extra supplement of 1,15 Cyprus pounds per ride: 24, 25, 26 and 31 December, 1 January, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (Christian Orthodox religion).

f) The transport of pets is not allowed unless they are carried in small proper cases and the charge in such cases is 0,55 euro per pet.
