POSTCODE
|
The
Postcode system of Cyprus combines, with only 4 digits, all the necessary
information for the routing, sorting and delivery of postal items. The new
alphabetical district listing provides an easy and reliable identification
of the destination of the postal items.
It is also a necessary prerequisite for the
modernisation
and/or automation
of the whole postal system in the sorting of mail as well as for the quick
and safe delivery of postal items to the addressees.
The public is requested to participate in the efforts for the improvement
of the postal services by always using the relevant postcode number in
correspondence. The benefit will be mutual: quick execution of the postal
work and best service to the public.
For items bearing the postcode and provided that they are posted each time
in a quantity of not less than 1000, the following discounts are allowed:
1. 10% in the case that the items are presorted in urban and rural areas
per District
2. 15% in the case that the items are presorted:
i. In rural areas per District
ii. In Municipalities / Communities / urban areas.
iii. In P.O. Boxes per District
iv. In Government services per District
3. 25% in the case that the items are presorted:
i. In Districts
ii. In sequence of postcode numbers.
iii. By street and sequence of house number
iv. In sequence of P.O.BOX numbers.
In the case of regular and big customers the postal charges may be paid
at the end of each month by obtaining a special permit from the Director
of the Department of Postal Services.

main target of the Stamps and Philatelic Service is the continual improvement
of Cyprus stamps so as to offer to philatelists quality stamps. This is achieved
by releasing a limited number of well-designed issues.
The Cyprus Post exerts every possible effort to respond to the growing number
of stamp collectors. Since 1981 the Postal and Philatelic Museum, where
worthwhile sets of Cyprus stamps and items related to the Cyprus postal
history are displayed, has been in operation.
Available for sale:
• New stamp issues
• Souvenir sheets
• First-day covers
• Presentation packs (albums) containing all the stamps issued every year.
