The information below is taken from 'Postal Rates, valid from 1st January, 2008' booklet, published by Ministry of Communications and Works, Department of Postal Services, Nicosia

RECOMMENDATIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Users are requested:
(a) To use suitable and durable envelopes adapted to their contents
(b) To affix the postage stamps on the front upper right-hand side comer of the envelope
(c) To write legibly the name and full address of the recipient on the front side of the envelope
(d) To write on the upper left-hand side corner or on the reverse side of the envelope the name and full address of the sender
(e) To write on their mail in front of the place of destination the respective Post code number

DIMENSIONS

2. Letters:
Printed Papers, Literature for the blind and Small Packets.
Maximum: Length, width and depth combined: 900 mm but the greatest dimension may not exceed 600 mm with a tolerance of 2 mm.
In roll form:
Length plus twice the diameter, 1040 mm but the greatest dimension may not exceed 900 mm with a tolerance of 2 mm.

Minimum: to have a surface measuring not less than 90 X 140 mm, with a tolerance of 2 mm.
In roll form: Length plus twice the diameter: 170 mm but the greatest dimension may not be less than 100 mm.

Postcards: Maximum: 125 X 235 mm., with a tolerance of 2 mm.
Minimum: 90 X 140 mm, with a tolerance of 2 mm.
Length: At least equal to the width multiplied by \2 (approximate value 1.4)

Notes (a) Charges 1.3 are only valid for newspapers, periodicals and books published and printed in Cyprus. Newspapers and periodicals should be registered according to the provisions of the Press Law. Books should not contain any publicity matter or advertisement other than that appearing on the cover or fly leaves.

(b) Charges 1.4 are only valid for printed papers addressed to the same addressee and to the same destination.

(c) For inland items as at 1.1 and 1.2 (with the exception of small packets) bearing the postcode and provided that they are posted each time in a quantity of not less than 1000, the following discounts are allowed:

1. 15% in the case that the items are presorted in districts and in sequence of postcode numbers.
2. 20% in the case that the items are presorted:
i. In Districts
ii. In sequence of postcode numbers.
iii. By street and sequence of house number or postmen's delivery route
iv. In sequence of P.O.Box numbers.

° Additional discount 5% is allowed for posting over 100.000 items per month.
° Discounts are allowed only in case the items fulfilled the relevant requirements or envelopes size up to C5 could be used in order to be sorted by the automatic sorting machine.

(d) For small packets the following discounts are allowed.

For posting 50- 100 small packets per month 10%
101 - 500 15%
501 - 1000 20%
Over 1000 25%


(e) Discounts are applicable on the standard as well as on the additional special charges.

(f) In the case of regular and big customers the postal charges may be paid at the end of each month by obtaining a special permit from the Director of the Department of Postal Services.

  5001 - 50.000 items per month: 20%
  items per month: 25%

For small packets the following discounts are allowed
