Until recently, the resale property market in Paphos was immature and could be classed as 'in its infancy'. Traditionally properties were built within tight knit circles and quite often for the family on demand. Very little was built on spec to be completed as property for sale on the open market. Things have now significantly changed in the so called tourist sector, partly due to the massive influx of foreign investment. Many town houses, apartments and properties on project like developments have been completed and sold.Some of these are finding their way back onto the market as resale properties. Some developers, having noticed massive upturn in demand between 1999 and 2003, decided to build on spec and offer the properties for sale, sadly many of the wrong types of apartments and villas were built, since their primary function was holiday accommodation and naturally not suited for those wishing to live here permanently. The new marina being constructed in Paphos will almost certainly increase the tourist market and we anticipate great demand for holiday accommodation once more. We cannot stress enough to prospective purchasers the importance of differentiating between holiday accommodation and residential homes.
