Saint George's Private Hospital, a private limited company registered in Cyprus, was established in 1990 and commenced operation in March 1992. During 1996, the hospital undertook a major expansion programme, with the services and facilities now extending over five floors. With the aim of providing quality in-patient care, the hospital is committed to the introduction of new services and facilities as the need is identified. The early diagnosis of potential health problems gives any treatment required a much greater chance of proving effective. With this in mind, Saint George's has recently introduced health screening programmes, all conducted by our highly qualified specialists using modem diagnostic equipment. Patient Care All patient rooms have en-suite toilet and bathroom, fully adjustable bed, telephone, and television with video channel. A nurse call system is installed in each room, giving immediate access to our nursing staff. Nursing Station Each ward has a nursing station, ensuring immediate nursing availability. All nursing and technical staff are highly qualified and specially trained to provide a high standard of advanced medical care. Operating Theatres The hospital has two major theatre suites, plus an orthopaedic theatre - all attached to our surgical wing. In addition, there is a major theatre suite on the maternity wing. All theatres are fully equipped to the highest standard. Recovery and Rehabilitation unit This unit provides short, medium and long-term care facilities for people who wish to avail themselves of such a service. Full-time medical and nursing support is available, with physiotherapy available to those who have a need. Full occupational therapy is also provided. The facility will be of particular interest to those who can no longer fully care for themselves at home, or to those who require regular nursing and medical attention. Similarly, the unit is able to provide temporary care for people who may otherwise be left alone whilst their families are away on business or on holiday. Intensive care unit The three-bed intensive care unit is fully equipped with the latest life support systems and is staffed by our specialist nursing team. The unit provides the highest standard of individual care for our surgical and clinical patients. In addition, a team of resident doctors, radiographers and laboratory technicians are always available to provide 24-hour support. The unit also offers full nursing and medical facilities to those people who would wish to take a holiday in Cyprus, but could not do so without the support of the medical facilities that can be made available to them. Our recovery and rehabilitation unit is fully staffed by qualified personnel who are in attendance 24 hours a day. Doctors are in attendance during normal surgery hours and are on call 24 hours a day ensuring that the medical needs of patients are attended to at all times. Specialist Laboratories The hospital has the following laboratories: cardiological, X-Ray, microbiological, in vitro fertilization, ophthalmic, ETN. Outpatient department There are 11 separate consulting rooms on the ground floor, providing access to resident doctors as well as to the visiting consultants.
