You can bring your pet to Cyprus or adopt here. There are several charitable
organisations that would be very happy to find new homes for the animals
in their care.
About bringing a pet from abroad:
***As of 1st of January 2011, the quarantine period was changed from 6 months to three weeks***
You must ensure that a suitable area in your new home is sectioned off.
This allows the pet to move freely in their pen and this is known as home quarantine.
To transport your pet you must prepare a livestock crate or buy a pet container.
The cargo company can advise you of the exact details.
The rule of thumb is that the crate must be:
High enough for the animal to stand with the tip of its ear just clear of the
top of the crate.
The animal will travel as cargo and is chargeable on a weight basis.
You should have your animal vaccinated before you leave your originating
country. With the pet passport scheme you can easily prove that your animal
is properly inoculated.
There are permits and documentation that you will require in Cyprus. A vet
in your country can advise you.
If you would prefer you can appoint the Paphiakos & C.C.P. Animal Welfare
organisation to carry out all the necessary work.
