Traffic Accidents

If you are involved in any sort of traffic accident while driving on a road in Cyprus, you should always call the Police. (Emergency number 112)

Do not move your car before they arrive.

If you move your vehicle you could be deemed to be at fault, even though it is not the case.

Always carry your driving licence, insurance and rental documents with you.

Police Officers in Cyprus invariably speak some English and many have a good knowledge of the language.

Note:
The police procedures regarding accidents are currently under review. If the law is changed it will mean that police will only attend accidents that involve injury, driving offences or special situations where, for example, the road is blocked. The same situation applies currently in the UK.
