| Parking places (municipal and private) are found in town centres, charging approximately 50 cents for a half day's parking. There are municipal parking areas in the Old Town just below the market area, also beyond the market nearer to the shopping area. Both make a charge starting from 20 cents per hour. Parking metres may be used on payment of one 20-cent coin per hour, on weekdays, during office hours. Parking metres do not operate on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Public Holidays. In Kato Paphos the municipal parking area is near the harbour and is free. There is also a paying car park opposite Woolworth charging 50 cents on entry for unlimited duration. Parking and waiting is prohibited along a double yellow line. Along a single yellow line, loading and unloading is allowed but parking is prohibited at all times. These yellow road markings are often accompanied by signs indicating the hours of operation. If you get a fixed penalty ticket you must pay the stated amount within 15 days. In the event of the fine remaining unpaid after 15 days from the issue date, a 50% surcharge is added. In the event of the fine remaining unpaid after 30 days from the issue date, payment will not be accepted and legal action will follow.
